An awesome weekend...

This was the best weekend that I have had in a long time! We just found out that Eric will be getting more Saturdays off, which means that we can actually have a weekend together! And we got to stay home and enjoy the weather, instead of traveling out of town, which is what we have been doing for the past two months.

On saturday we went surfing with some friends from church. It was so much fun! It was my first time out on a surf board and I thought that I was going to be intimidated by the waves and constantly thinking about sharks, but I really focused on balancing on my board and I did o.k. I stayed on my stomach the entire time, which I didn't mind because I am just getting the hang of things. I spent half the time trying to get on the wave my myself, but a few times my friend would help push me into the wave and that helped me a lot. We are going again next saturday and I am going to try getting up on my hands and knees, which will hopefully lead into standing, eventually. I only wiped out one time, and I'm kind of glad I did. Not that I did it on purpose, but I had been anticipating a wipe out and I knew it wouldn't be any fun. I thought I would panic under the water, but everything was fine. I can't wait to be better at this.

It was almost 90 on saturday and mid 90's on sunday. This is unusual weather for SLO this time of year and it's expecting to cool off again this week. By cool off I mean high 60's and low 70's. I love California. I'm still not used to the crazy drivers, but I definitely see our future here.

Oh, and my bass guitar lesson was really fun too. I can't wait to start playing some songs and understanding the instrument more. Right now I have to start with the basics, like finger exercises and scales. It's sometimes hard to try new things, but right now I am excited that I am accomplishing some goals from a long time ago (learning bass guitar and surfing.)

Is anyone else trying to learn something new right now? How is that going for you?
